Root Canal Procedure – FAQ
Common Questions

What is an Endodontist?

An Endodontist is a “Root Canal Specialist” with an additional 2-3 years of advanced training beyond dental school. Copper Creek Endodontics is a specialty clinic that uses state of the art equipment including microscopes and 3-D imaging to treat the most complex Root Canal Therapy and Surgical cases.

Will I have pain during or after the procedure?
  • Every effort will be made to ensure your root canal treatment procedure is a comfortable and positive experience. Local anesthetic will be gently applied to provide numbness to the tooth and surrounding soft tissues. If any discomfort is encountered during treatment, immediate measures will be taken to provide additional anesthetic to ensure you are comfortable.
  • The recovery time varies from patient-to-patient depending on the type of procedure that was completed. Generally there is some minor post-treatment discomfort that can be managed with over the counter medications (Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, and Tylenol). Most patients are able to return to work immediately and resume their normal life without any changes.

Will I need to be sedated?

Most cases do not need any form of sedation. However, we do have a variety of options to help ease anxious patients. Please call our helpful staff for more information regarding sedation options.

What do I do after the Root Canal?

Our friendly staff will provide you with verbal and written post-treatment instructions. A temporary filling will be placed to seal the root canal system and you will return to your general dentist for the final restoration. We will provide your dentist with a post-treatment report showing treatment has been completed. We encourage you return to your dentist within 2-3 weeks of having the root canal completed. You should be very cautious with your temporary filling and avoid chewing hard or sticky foods on the side of the mouth that the root canal was completed. If you have any questions regarding your post-treatment instructions, please call our office for assistance.

How much does a root canal cost?

Copper Creek Endodontics is in network with most major insurance companies. Please call our knowledgeable staff for more information.
